I'm so excited to hear the Sita Sings the Blues, an animated jazz-infused retelling of the Ramayana, will air on PBS on March 7th. You can keep up with the latest at director Nina Paley's blog.

At about 3:48 into this video is one of my favorite scenes in the history of ever, when Harriet, Sport, and Janie visit a magical art garden. (Click here to see it in high quality!) I wish I could tell you more about the actual venue, but all I know is that it's somewhere in Toronto. where the movie was filmed. Do any of you awesome readers know more about it?

Midsummer's Night is my favorite holiday, most likely because of my fond memories of the book Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher. I always dreamed of having some sort of magical, whimsical gathering. However, with my coterie, any sort of celebration would end up like the above.

Of course, that's not a bad thing. Maybe I can convince the lot to join me for crafts and a cocktail on the 22nd. I'd wear something floaty with jeans, make everyone a passion fruit mimosa, and bring supplies for making pocket shrines, like this pretty one by OnceUpon.
